Best used inside

I looked at laser levels for a long time. I've read just about every review for every level on the market. I finally decided on this Bosch as most of the reviews were as positive as the rest of the levels in this price range and most of the gripes were the same as all of the other levels.
The level comes in a study and large plastic case with lots of padding. Everything you need for the level fits nicely in the case. I was able to use my tripod from an old DW level so that was a huge plus.
The first time I used this level was for building a deck. The set-up is simple, the level is easy to use and the rotating beam is great. You just can't see it, even with the glasses, outside. With a little trial and error, I was able to use the included detector, but just barely. You have to get it within a half inch of the laser before you can find it on the detector and the detector has to be straight up and down (perpendicular) to laser to find it. I didn't have to get more than twenty feet from the level and I suspect that was a good thing!
The next project was hanging cabinets in a kitchen. The beam is still weak enough that the glasses were needed (unless I turned off all of the lights) and it was still pretty tough. Unfortunately, you can't just wear the glasses as you work, so you have to put them on and take them off a lot. The detector works a lot better inside but that really slows down the job!
So in the end, I guess this is what you get in this price range. I've worked with levels in the $2000 range and didn't have these issues at all, but I just couldn't afford them. I"ll use the level when I can but it has it's limitations.

Bosch GRL300HV Self Leveling Rotating Laser

This is the laser you want for leveling a foundation, deck, ect. Works great for grading a lot before construction and laying out drainage. It sets up fast and easy and is very accurate. You can also use it inside for a variety of tasks such as laying out floor and wall tile, laying out moldings and window trim. That being said, I'm very happy with the laser and would buy again, however, for outdoor use you need the reciever which is NOT included. The one at Lowes included the reciever and the stick. Lowes was sold out when I went back to buy it and the one on Amazon seemed to be the same (it was even the sameish price). I was very dissapointed to find out that the laser did not include the reciever, the stick, and the tripod as the one at Lowes did. So, go to lowes and buy this laser!

Perfect.

This laser has made me $ many times. I have used this laser for tile hallways in department stores, wrapping an olympic size swimming pool & countless bathroom walls/ wainscoat. It is everything I expected & far more accurate than my other, similarly price Johnson Laser. 5 stars.
